SGA existed from the beginning. It started when Kennesaw was just a junior college. Our first Constitution was drafted in 1966 and was ratified in 1967. In the 70s SGA provided students with free legal service, assisted with course registration and participated in the dedication of the James V. Carmichael Student Center. We also worked with returning Vietnam veterans because there was no veteran service on campus.

In the 80s we stressed the need for a change in the drop/add date, created a new student handbook, and extended the hours of the library. Other issues we addressed were student activity fees and the need for a new library. In 1988, SGA played a part in Kennesaw College became Kennesaw State College.

In the 90s, SGA was involved in the addition to the Student Center being open. In 1996, Kennesaw State College became Kennesaw State University.

In 2002 campus housing opened. The Commons was opened in 2009 and SGA signed a Football referendum in the same year.

As you can see, Student Government plays a very big role on our campus. We are proud to serve you and continue to fight on your behalf.
